My Year of Jubilee

It's hard to believe that today I am celebrating my 50th Birthday!  Even typing that number seems surreal.  Where have 50 years gone?

Time is a curious thing.

Every 50 years in ancient Israel, a year of Jubilee was called.  Everyone returned to their original homes and all debts were cancelled.  It is a year of forgiveness and restitution (properties were restored to their original owner).  It is quite a year of celebration and freedom.  It is also a year of abundant blessing!

I will celebrate today, but not in the way you might think.  I am an introvert, so large parties with flashing lights and pounding music are not my thing.  No, I am having a quiet day with my husband and kitty.  Over the next few days I will make time for introspection - both to look back at what has been and to look forward to what is not yet, but will be.

After that,  I must refocus on the present and cherish the many blessings I already have:  Salvation in Jesus Christ and faith so deep as to be unshakeable ((no matter how hard the path gets); a handsome, gentle, caring Husband; an affectionate cat who wakes me every morning with her sandpaper-like tongue on my chin and our amazing house, which will never be taken for granted.

All these things are vastly important, but nothing is more important than recognizing the biggest blessing we have: LIFE.

I know the One who Created me in my mother's womb and who continues to walk beside me every moment of everyday.  He has been with me every second of these 50 years and He will be with me for however many years are written in His book of Life for me.

His name is:  Jesus Christ.  He is the way, the truth and the LIFE, no one comes to the Father except through Him.

Reach out to Him today in prayer.  Confess your sins (big and small) and ask Him to take them from you and replace them with His own character.
