A Sojourner Passing Through

Today is Canada Day, which is my nation's 151st birthday and celebrations are going on in all the time zones across our great land.  I love being Canadian and I always enjoy this holiday.  I believe I live in one of the most beautiful places on earth.

This Is Not My Home

I can hear you now...."but you just said!"  Yes, I did indeed.

This is the country of my birth and the place I live, but it is NOT my Home.  I am a mortal being.  I was born, am living and one day, I will die.  I will shed this mortal body and the spirit inside of me (which is eternal) shall leave this realm.

I Am a Sojourner

One who is simply passing through...on a journey that took a mortal turn and will once again continue long after this physical body has returned to dust.  The truth is so are you...every human who has ever lived or will ever live in this realm is living a temporary existence here on his/her way back Home.

Heaven Is My Home

I am a citizen of Heaven (Philippians 3: 20).  My passport is stamped with the blood of Jesus Christ, who Himself was a Sojourner on this world for 33 years.  His life had a very different purpose from yours or mine.  He came to die so that we all might have the gift of Eternal Life with God if we believe, repent for our sins and surrender our earthly lives and eternal souls.

Jesus came as the final sacrificial lamb to atone for all of mankind's sin since Eve and Adam ate of the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3).  We live as His servants, His children and His Beloved - radiating His Light to the world and letting anyone who will listen know...this is not our home.

This Life is Temporary

I can almost hear that sigh of relief.  Yes, this life is full of all the storms, trials and tribulations (terms for conflict, suffering, grief, shame, loss and trauma).  No two people experience the same things and for some it seems they have more than their fair share on their plates:  living with a chronic illness or disability; losing a parent(s) at a young age to death, divorce or abandonment, car crashes, crimes of horrendous proportions at the hands of strangers and the abuse by those closest leave the deepest wounds of betrayal.

There is Hope

His name is Jesus and He alone is trustworthy.   He is LOVE beyond any form that you can find here and He is the TRUTH and the LIGHT.  If you do not know Him, you have only to ask for He already stands at the door of your heart knocking.  Will you let Him in?  He never changes and He will never leave you or forsake you.  He will also heal those deep wounds within, if you ask.  The decision is yours.
