Focus for 2019 - Obedience Is Better Than Sacrifice

1 Samuel 15:22-24  Amplified Bible

Samuel said,

“Has the Lord as great a delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices
As in obedience to the voice of the Lord?
Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice,
And to heed [is better] than the fat of rams.

“For rebellion is as [serious as] the sin of divination (fortune-telling),
And disobedience is as [serious as] false religion and idolatry.
Because you have rejected the word of the Lord,
He also has rejected you as king.”

Then Saul said to Samuel, “I have sinned; for I have transgressed the command of the Lord and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice.”

There are so many mixed messages in the world. Everything seems upside down and backwards. Good is called evil and evil is called good. Jesus warned us of these times that we now find ourselves in. The Lord has been talking with me regarding all that is going on and there is one thing that is abundantly clear: He desires OBEDIENCE in 2019, not sacrifice.

The first act of obedience He requires of all His followers, is that they draw near to Him. That means every believer setting time aside, every single day, to spend with God: reading scripture, worshipping and praising, praying both prayers that ask for your needs, but then shift toward the needs of others. Prayers for those who treat you badly, forgiving them and asking for their salvation. Then finish with listening prayer and hear what God is saying to you. This whole process is called “abiding in Christ” and John 15 covers it thoroughly.

Too many believers have allowed the things of this world to take the place of their relationship with God. There are a lot of mainstream churches who have erred in allowing blatantly evil things into their church walls and even their sanctuaries. The enemy has infiltrated and the sheep are being led astray. It does not matter what our Pastors preaches on Sunday - if it does not line up with what the Bible says, then it is false teaching. We are to test the spirits and be on the alert always.

Yoga is not Christian and, while it looks like exercise, those positions are actually positions of worship to Hindu gods. In attending Yoga sessions, or heaven forbid, allowing them to take place in your church, you are opening yourself up to the Kundalini spirit that is behind Yoga and literally inviting that demon inside. I am NOT kidding. If you have done this, search out deliverance now as it is not pleasing to our Lord and it gives the enemy access to you, your family members and anyone coming in and out of your church. Yes, if Yoga is practiced within church walls, the wolf is literally in the sheepfold. I know of one mainstream minister who had a Yoga practitioner come and teach Yoga (as worship) from the platform in the sanctuary of His church and I was horrified as I watched everyone there do it willingly and with zeal.

The other popular new fad is to allow, “Christian” witches to teach witchcraft to small groups in church buildings. Let me be clear, you cannot be a witch or Wiccan and be a Christian at the same time. You cannot serve two masters! There is no such thing as a “Christian” witch - witchcraft is evil in God’s sight. Do not have anything to do with this apostasy and hold your church leadership to account if this is happening in your church.

Sisters, we are to be IN the world, but not OF the world (John 17:6-19). Obedience is the KEY! Know the Voice of the Lord and obey it. Follow Jesus, not the doctrines of this age. It’s time for the church to rise up in corporate obedience regardless of what our society thinks or the repercussions of standing for the TRUTH. I read about one Pastor doing that this week and it cost him his job. He stood up and called homosexuality a sin (which is the truth as outlined in the Bible, the inerrant Word of God) and he was FIRED. Make certain you are in fellowship with solid bible believing Christians who refuse to compromise.

2019 is also a year of transition for many. Do not doubt the voice of the Lord if He is telling you to relocate. He is doing that with many believers and the time is short. If He asks you to sell your home and move to a different location, obey Him. Your lives may depend on it. Do not allow fear to dictate, instead take it one step of faith at a time. After all, Abram was sent out by God to find the Promised Land and he was literally walking into unknown territory. It must have been terrifying, but he obeyed in faith and look at the result.

So this year, choose to OBEY God and to STAND for the things His word and His spirit tell you to stand for. Plant your feet on the rock and do NOT give ground. (Ephesians 6:13).
